What do we do?
Safe Driving Coalition works with driving schools investing your dollars directly into driving safety. Not only do we provide the work with schools to provide the best curriculum and videos for driver education but we also work with senators and representatives on your behalf to establish parent rights instruct your own teen. Our successes have been unparalled. While other schools may choose to maintain the status quo the Safe driving Coalition is setting standards and raising the bar on driver safety by working with only the schools who meet our standards, and lowering the collision and fatalities rate of teenagers. Our program offers a resource area for parents to help them help their teens behind the wheel by offer support materials and movies for parents to borrow.
Act Now To Become A Partner
No other hazard or behavior comes close to claiming as many teen lives as driving. In 2006, 126 teenagers aged 15-19 died in car crashes in Indiana.
Involved, informed parents have long been considered the most influential factor in promoting safe teen driving. The mission of Partners for Safe Driving Coalition is to help communities develop a parent education program, so that parents can guide their children through the first perilous years of driving.
Many school divisions and communities in Indiana have partnered to develop Safe Driving Coalition programs. Approximately 25 communities now require parents of teen drivers to attend a mandatory meeting. At this meeting, parents receive information about Indiana's graduated licensing procedures, current driving techniques, procedures for helping teach their children to drive, curfew restrictions, and more.
A kit with step-by-step information about how communities can start their own programs has been sent to every school division in Indiana.
